  The scenic beauty of Cerro Gordo County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The East Park to Wren Avenue section of Winnebago River in Cerro Gordo County is 10 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels
    fill up quick. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Mason City, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that.
Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other spots. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the East Park to Wren Avenue stretch is one of them. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.

If
 
you desire a little side tour, try Big Gully; lots of people from Mason City come here. The amount of rainfall that falls at Winnebago River is close to the national average. Most of the rain falls throughout June; January is the month with the least moisture. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Winnebago River. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are regularly in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Winnebago River.
