If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Kentucky you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so better not forget that rivers     in this state are less demanding. The Kentucky 53 to Ohio River stretch of Harrod's Creek in Oldham/Jefferson County is 30 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. Great exercise and spending some quality time   in nature have people coming from far and near. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: You'll meet a lot of people from Goshen here, and obviously, everyone loves E. P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park. The high level of precipitation makes Harrod's Creek a quite wet spot. During the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February.
