Howard's is famous for wood and wire in the flow. Howard's is NOT a beginner stream as this article seems to indicate. Says BG This stretch of Howard's Creek in Clark County is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(IV) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many     runs in this state are very easy. The beautiful scenery of Kentucky and the cool fresh water beats anything. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad   you came. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: Fort Boonesborough State Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Howard's Creek, and there are plenty of folks from Winchester here. Throughout the days of summer highs here at Howard's Creek get into the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Howard's Creek. Howard's Creek is a wet place that gets a good deal of rain.
