  The Kentucky 746 to Kentucky 715 section of Red River in Wolfe County is 10.3 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers in this state are less demanding. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. If you
    have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the
Kentucky 746 to Kentucky 715 section is one of them. The wild scenery of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is great. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Mount Sterling, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you wonít get lost. The beautiful scenery of Wolfe County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance  
then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places.

Briefly about the general area:
You need to have a look at Red-byrd Arch since you're here at Red River; while you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Hazel Green. You definitely have to adore the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. There's great hiking along the Rock Bridge Trail, and a visit to Natural Bridge State Park rejuvenates the spirit.
