We put in at the interstate Bridge and out at the bridge by Carter Cave State Park. The trip was awesome, views are incredible and fishing is very good. Takes a while to do the trip with a large group say 7-8hr as there is a lot of porting. Says Clan of 12

The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are
    very easy. The put-in is not too far from Portsmouth, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The natural beauty of Kentucky and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract
people from near and far. This section of Tygarts Creek in Kentucky is 12.2 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get  
to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There's camping available near Tygarts Creek. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling places.

Briefly about the general area:
Grayson Lake State Park is a glorious site to stretch your legs a bit, and folks from Olive Hill love to come here. Erwin Hollow is a great location to spend some time at, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Dry Branch Conneoter Trail. This is such a great river.
