Kentucky whitewater, White Oak Creek Garrard county, Kentucky 1845 to Kentucky River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV     2 miles   This section of White Oak Creek in Garrard County is 2 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Danville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Kentucky and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. There are some good     sections to paddle in this river system, the Kentucky 1845 to Kentucky River section is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,   either way this area has a large number of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: During your visit to White Oak Creek you'll meet some folks from Wilmore for sure; Devils Elbow is an interesting spot to check out while at White Oak Creek. Old Fort Harrod State Park is a stunning site any time of year. All through the summer at White Oak Creek temperatures are regularly in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. Highs through the winter are usually in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at White Oak Creek plunge into the 20's.
