The starting location is a short drive from Bangor, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Allagash River is 92 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so better bring your camping gear along. The Chamberlain Lake to Allagash stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance

Briefly about the general area: The Chase Carry is a great hiking trail close to Allagash River; there is a good hiking trail close by called the Telephone Trail.
Allagash River is a good location of normal precipitation. July is when you get the most rain here while February is commonly the driest month. Summertime highs at Allagash River generally tend to be in the 70's while nighttime
lows are commonly in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's; night lows in the-10's for Allagash River.
