  The Lower Wilson Pond to Bodfish Crossing stretch of Big Wilson Stream in Piscataquis County is 9 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Augusta-Waterville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are so many
    sections to paddle in this river system, the Lower Wilson Pond to Bodfish Crossing section is just one of many. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state
is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The nature scenery of Piscataquis County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are  
great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
Big Wilson Stream is not far at all from Greenville; a visit to Lily Bay State Park rejuvenates the soul. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Gulf Hagas Trail; do take a hike on the Number Four Mountain Trail. This river is so great. Throughout the warm months here at Big Wilson Stream, high temperatures mostly get into the 70's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Big Wilson Stream are in the-10's.
