Maine whitewater, Big Wilson Stream

Piscataquis county, Bodfish Crossing to Willimantic section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III     5 miles
The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. The Bodfish Crossing to Willimantic stretch of Big Wilson Stream is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The wonderful Maine scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and
paddle. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. The Bodfish Crossing to Willimantic stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're coming from Bangor it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
