The starting location is a short drive from Bangor, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Maine and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
