If you're coming from Augusta-Waterville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wonderful Maine scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This is one of a small number |

| so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Lots of folks from Rockwood come to Cold Stream; on a great day you can take a hike along the Arnolds Trail. The annual precipitation
