The Albany to North Waterford stretch of Crooked River in Maine is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The campgrounds here at Crooked River are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with
plenty of places for that. The beautiful White Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting
and kayaking spots in Maine tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The beautiful scenery of Maine and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Albany to North Waterford stretch is just one of them. A bit of exercise and just being
out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip.

Briefly about the general area:
There is a splendid hiking trail near Crooked River called the Albany Mountain Trail, and at Crooked River you always meet someone from Brownfield. And if that's not enough there's loads more cool stuff to do in the White Mountains. The Albany Brook Trail is a wonderful hiking trail next to Crooked River, and the slopes of Mount Abram are so inviting nobody can resist. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Crooked River is a good location of common precipitation.
