CLASS II     1.8 miles
  This stretch of Ellis Brook in Maine is 1.8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you're coming from Bangor it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
    You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The wonderful Maine scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Ellis Brook attract people from
near and far. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This is a pretty short section so better bring  
some good walking shoes.

Briefly about the general area:
There are glorious sites to discover along the Carry Trail; don't leave Ellis Brook without first going for a hike along the Telephone Trail. Ellis Brook gets a typical amount of yearly rainfall. The month with most of the rain is July, and February is the month with the least moisture. For the period of the warm days of summer at Ellis Brook temperatures are generally in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's while Ellis Brook night low temperatures during the winter are in the-10's.
