  Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. The scenic beauty of Maine and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. A good workout and
    just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. The Round Pond to Ferguson Brook
section of Fish River in Maine is 5.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Round Pond to Ferguson Brook stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this  
river system.

Briefly about the general area:
Put some time aside to spend at Skew Falls while you're here at Fish River. Fish River is right by the Island Pond Trail; do take a hike on the Fox Brook Trail. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. From a rainfall point of view Fish River is a relatively common site. August is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Through the summertime months highs here at Fish River get into the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. Through the winter highs are ordinarily in the 10's with temperatures at Fish River dipping down into the-10's during winter nights.
