  The starting location is a short drive from Augusta-Waterville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The average Maine whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. The Harris Station Dam to Carry Brook section of Kennebec River is 3.5 miles long and is a class
    IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll
find a large number of good rivers. The campgrounds here at Kennebec River are pretty good. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The wonderful Somerset County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Kennebec River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a  
somewhat short section so better bring some good walking shoes.

Briefly about the general area:
You'll meet a lot of people from West Forks here; nearby you come across the Big Squaw Mountain Trail which is a great hiking trail. Kennebec River gets a common amount of precipitation. Through July this area sees the most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. All through the days of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Kennebec River, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs during the winter are mostly in the 20's; overnight lows at Kennebec River throughout the winter generally plunge into the-10's.
