The starting location is a reasonable drive from Augusta-Waterville, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Kennebec River in Somerset County is 7.8 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Maine you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. |
There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors

Briefly about the general area: You're sure to come across some friendly folks from West Forks here, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Moxie Falls.
Going for a hike on the Arnolds Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Kennebec River gets a common amount of yearly rain. July is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is February. For the duration
of the warm months here at Kennebec River, high temperatures usually reach the 70's; the overnight is slightly chillier of course, mostly in the 50's.
