The starting location is a short drive from Augusta-Waterville, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Somerset County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This stretch of Moose River is 5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Long Pond to Brassua Lake section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting
| or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers in this state are less demanding.

On a tremendous day at Moose River you can take a hike along the Big Squaw Mountain Trail, and the Intake Trail is a good hiking trail nearby. Summer at Moose River comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun
is down it plunges down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 20's with temperatures at Moose River dipping down into the-10's during winter nights. The amount of rain that falls at
