The scenic beauty of Franklin County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Lewiston-Auburn, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that |
the rivers in this state are less demanding. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Peaked Mtn to Skinner stretch is one of them. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great
| reasons to come. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places.
