  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Maine you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The starting point is not too far from Bangor, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Deer Lake to Deblois section of Narraguagus River in Washington County is 25 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater
    according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The nature
scenery of Washington County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
On a good day at Narraguagus River you can take a hike along the Lead Mountain Trail, and Black Beach is pretty nearby if you're in a beach type of mood. There is a pleasant hiking trail right next door to Narraguagus River called the Eagle Lake Trail; you can hit the beach if you want, Schoodic Beach is practically right here. This is a great river. Narraguagus River gets lots of water. Most of the rain falls during November, and February is when it's the driest. Summertime at Narraguagus River arrives with high temperatures in the 70's.
