This stretch of Old Stream in Maine is 25 miles long     and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Second Lake to Machias River section is one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some   time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. All through the warm days of summer at Old Stream highs are regularly in the 70's while overnight lows are frequently in the 50's.
