The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This stretch of Orange River in Washington County is 6.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve |
in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Halls Mills to Whiting stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Some people prefer whitewater rafting
| and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The wonderful Maine scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.

a great idea. Orange River is not far at all from Whiting, and a day at beautiful Davis Beach close to Orange River is a wonderful thing to do. At this river you will always have a good time. Orange River gets much water.
The month of November is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. Through the long summer days at Orange River temperatures are typically in the 80's, and all through the night it
cools down to the 50's. Through the wintertime highs are frequently in the 20's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Orange River sink into the 0's.
