  The beautiful scenery of Maine and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. The North Highway border to Saco River section of Ossipee River in Maine is 12.5 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The put-in is not too far from Portland-South Portland, if you're not familiar
    with the area there's a road map further down the page. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The average Maine
whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the North Highway border to Saco River section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. There's camping

Briefly about the general area:
Skiing at Shawnee Peak is one of those things you just have to do, and if you want to hit the beach, Lake Ivanhoe Beach is close by. People from Parsonsfield love to come to Ossipee River, and a tour to Providence Lake Beach is always a great idea. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. The high level of rainfall makes Ossipee River a pretty wet location. All through November this area sees the most rain while September is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Summertime highs at Ossipee River generally tend to be in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
