  The Big Bog Dam to Pittston Farm section of Penobscot River - North Branch in Maine is 20.8 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Maine and the water flowing gracefully down Penobscot River - North Branch are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the sections in
    this state are safe for beginners. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Big Bog Dam to Pittston Farm stretch is just one of them. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater
rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Augusta-Waterville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camping stuff.  
Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
