  If you're coming from Augusta-Waterville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The Canada Falls Lake to Pittston Farm section of Penobscot River - South Branch is 3.5 miles
    long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. The wonderful Somerset County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. Getting a good workout and
spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There's
