  The Seboomook Dam to Roll Dam Campsite stretch of Penobscot River - West Branch in Maine is 2.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III+ section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Somerset County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these
    hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Penobscot River - West Branch are pretty good. If you're coming from Augusta-Waterville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further
down. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The  
sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners.
