The starting point is not too far from Bangor, as you can see on the road map further down. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The rivers for whitewater     rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. The beautiful scenery of Maine and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Briefly about the general area: There   are fine places to discover along the Norton Trail; you'll meet a lot of people from Brownville here. Don't leave Piscataquis River without first going for a hike along the Northwest Ridge Road. Piscataquis River gets a lot of water.
