  This section of Pleasant River - East Branch in Piscataquis County is 8 miles long and is a class III-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Piscataquis County and the water flowing gracefully down Pleasant River - East Branch make the trip here worthwhile. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting
    here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. The Guernsey Brook to Upper Ebeemee Lake section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. If you're a camper you can camp
at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're coming from Bangor it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter,  
this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

Briefly about the general area:
Gauntlet Falls is a perfect local attraction; you can have a magnificent hiking adventure along the Pleasant River Trail. Put some time aside to spend at Mud Gauntlet Falls if you're here at Pleasant River - East Branch. Hiking along the Jo-Mary Trail is tremendous fun. The amount of rainfall that falls at Pleasant River - East Branch is close to the national average. The month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
