If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Maine and the cool fresh water beats anything. The beautiful White Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter,
| this is an area with plenty of places for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There's camping available near Rapid River. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Rapid River
you will meet lots of folks from close by Andover. There's magnificent hiking along the Table Rock Trail; don't leave without dropping by Grafton Notch State Park. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Good hiking is
available along the Old Magalloway Trail. Rapid River gets a typical amount of rainfall. August is the month that gets the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
