The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Augusta-Waterville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The average Maine whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. | number of good rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The nature scenery of Somerset County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.

along the Arnolds Trail. The Ledges is an exciting thing to spot if you're here at Sandy Stream. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Sandy Stream; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout
the winter highs are commonly in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Sandy Stream are in the 0's. A normal amount of rain falls here at Sandy Stream. Through the month of November you get the most snow around here, and February is when it's the driest.
