This section of Seboeis River in Maine is 22.3 miles long and is a class I-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Penobscot County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Maine you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. If you hurry |
you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The put-in
| location is a reasonable drive from Bangor, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
