  Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. This section of Sheepscot River in Lincoln County is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming
    back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The put-in is not too far from Augusta-Waterville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Not too many hotels
nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The Coopers Mills to West Branch stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling  
spots.

Briefly about the general area:
Sheepscot River is not far at all from Windsor; a journey to Damariscotta Lake State Park is a magnificent idea. Sheepscot River is a good site of common precipitation. Most of the rain falls through November, and February on the other hand is the driest. Through the summertime months here at Sheepscot River, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 70's with overnight lows in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's; night lows in the 10's for Sheepscot River.
