Maine whitewater, Sheepscot River

Lincoln county, Reversing Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

Has anybody floated the west branch during runoff? It looks doable from the bridges as of 4/22/09. I'm thinking about making a hair-raising overnight between choate rd. and Head Tide. does anyone have any input? Says John

The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. The beautiful scenery of Lincoln County
and the water flowing gracefully down Sheepscot River attract people from near and far. If you're coming from Augusta-Waterville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map
further down the page so you won’t get lost. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The
nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
