If you're coming from Bangor it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll     find lots of paddling places. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Squa Pan Lake to Aroostook River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The campgrounds here at Squa Pan Stream are pretty good. The beautiful scenery of Aroostook County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and   paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. Briefly about the general area: There's splendid hiking along the Old Dam Tote Road, and you're sure to come across some wonderful people from Ashland here. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Squa Pan Stream; Webster Brook Tote Road is a tremendous local trail. Squa Pan Stream is a good spot of normal rain. Most of the rain falls during July; the driest month is February. During the warmest time of the year, highs regularly are in the 70's at Squa Pan Stream, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's.
