  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Berlin, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. The White Mountains scenery is wonderful. The Route 26 to Dead Cambridge River section of Swift Cambridge River is 6 miles long and is
    a class II-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The
scenic beauty of Maine and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The Route 26 to Dead Cambridge River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you  
come because it is a very popular destination. There's camping available near Swift Cambridge River.

Briefly about the general area:
If you like skiing, you're in luck; Sunday River is next to Swift Cambridge River, and the friendly folks of Newry like to hang out nearby. But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the White Mountains. A journey to Grafton Notch State Park when you're here at Swift Cambridge River is a fine idea, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Swift Cambridge River; Table Rock Trail is a delightful local trail. This is such a wonderful river. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Old Speck Mountain Trail.
