The campgrounds here at Bear Creek are pretty good. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but     if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The US 219 to Youghiogheny River at Friendsville stretch of Bear Creek in Garrett County is 7 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. The average Maryland whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the US 219 to Youghiogheny River at Friendsville section is one of them.
