The put-in is not too far from Cumberland, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Bedford (PA) and Allegany (MD) County and the water flowing gracefully down Evitts Creek beats anything. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your     time, so pack your sleeping bag. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Lake Gordon Dam to Maryland Route 51 section is one of them. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Wigfield Trail is delightful fun, and if you're popping by from Flintstone,   you won't be the only one. Take a hike on the Old Mail Trail. Evitts Creek gets a typical amount of annual precipitation. July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is January. During the summertime, highs regularly are in the 80's at Evitts Creek. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are commonly in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Evitts Creek.
