Maryland whitewater, Gunpowder Falls Baltimore county, Graves Run Road to Prettyboy Reservoir section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     2 miles   OK so after checking this one out today I was sorely disappointed. it is in no way a II-III, more like a slow moving I, not even a I-II. Also the put in location is on some private property farm so good luck getting in the water at some point where the river isn't congested down into drainage ditches going under the small roads in this area. I highly recommend some of the other gunpowder rivers however, great fun, just not this stretch. Says     Rudyrudell Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. The starting point is not too far from York-Hanover, as you can see on the road map further down. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The scenic beauty of Maryland and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Graves Run Road to Prettyboy Reservoir section of Gunpowder Falls in Maryland is 2 miles long and is rated   by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
