Says Maxim Lamm The Echodale Avenue to Sinclair Lane stretch of Herring Run is 4 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Baltimore-Towson, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here     do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The Echodale Avenue to Sinclair Lane section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The natural beauty of Maryland and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Herring Run   are pretty good. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: You'll meet a lot of folks from Parkville here, and Hall Spring is a picturesque site to visit while you're at Herring Run. When you're here at Herring Run it's always fun to take a look at Gunpowder Falls State Park, and Herring Run is near North Point State Park which is a pretty location. This river is a great place to visit. Summer at Herring Run arrives with high temperatures in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Herring Run.
