  If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The natural beauty of Cecil County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. This stretch of Northeast Creek in Cecil County is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. If you're
    coming from Lancaster it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming
from far and near. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the below covered bridge on Route 272 section is one of them. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are  
lots of good rivers for that around here.

Briefly about the general area:
You'll meet a lot of folks from North East here; a magnificent location like Elk Neck State Park is too splendid to leave out. It's always good to pop by Gilpins Falls; a good beach close by is Roachs Shore. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Going to Susquehanna State Park near Northeast Creek is a wonderful thing to do. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Northeast Creek. Summer night lows fall down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Northeast Creek.
