The scenic beauty of Montgomery County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch of Potomac River in Montgomery County is 6.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a     class I-IV section of whitewater. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Mather Gorge to Lock 10 section is just one of many.
