If you're coming from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Little Falls section of Potomac River in Maryland is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III(IV) section by American Whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated     and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. The campgrounds here at Potomac River are pretty good. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Little Falls stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Visiting Glen Echo Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. Spend the day on the beach at Bathing Beach since   you're here at Potomac River, and good hiking is available along the Upland Trail. At this river you will always have a good time. You're sure to bump into some cheerful people from Glen Echo here, and there's pleasant hiking along the Woods Trail. A visit to Potomac River wouldn’t be complete without a journey to nearby George Washington's Grist Mill Historic State Park. Potomac River is a good site of typical rainfall. The month with most of the rain is May, and February on the other hand is the driest. Through the summer months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Potomac River. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 60's.
