The Military Road to Potomac River in D. stretch of Rock Creek in DC County is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national     average, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river is so perfect. On a wonderful day you can check out Bathing Beach next to Rock Creek, and there are plenty of folks from Chevy Chase here at Rock Creek. Hiking along the Rock Creek Park Bike Trail is glorious fun, and a wonderful location is Klingle Valley.
