  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Cumberland, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Allegany County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Wills Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
    And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maryland is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. A bit
of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The Ellerslie to North Branch Potomac section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
There is a good hiking trail near Wills Creek called
 
the Wigfield Trail; Big Blue Spring is a pretty place to go to while you're at Wills Creek. The Old Mail Trail is a fine hiking trail close to Wills Creek, and there are plenty of people from Corriganville here. This is such a wonderful river. Don't leave Wills Creek without first checking out Lovers Leap, and Wills Creek is next to The Narrows which is positively worth a visit. Through the summertime here at Wills Creek, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's with night lows in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Wills Creek dip into the 10's.
