The Route 117 to Route 62 stretch of Assabet River is 15 miles long and     it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Route 117 to Route 62 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that many runs in this state are very easy. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly   about the general area: Callahan State Park is a good location, and you'll meet a lot of people from Stow here. Everybody loves Hopkinton State Park, and you should without doubt stop by stunning Memorial Beach while you're here. This is a really good river. If you want to hit the beach, Harvard Town Beach is in the vicinity. Assabet River commonly gets lots of precipitation. Through November this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. Throughout the months of summer highs here at Assabet River reach the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's typically in the 50's.
