This stretch of Chickley River is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The scenic beauty of Massachusetts and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. |
Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're
| all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. area: The great people of Charlemont like to hang out nearby, and you can go for a hike on the Dunbar Brook Trail. A tour to Chickley River wouldn’t be complete without a trip to nearby Mohawk Trail State Forest. Really
delightful skiing awaits you at Berkshire East, and a journey to Monroe State Forest is a delightful idea. Put some time aside to spend at Moody Spring since you're here at Chickley River. Don't leave Chickley River without
first going for a hike along the Busby Trail. An average amount of rainfall falls at Chickley River. The month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month is February.
