CLASS II-III     9.5 miles
  This section of Deerfield River in Franklin County is 9.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The wonderful Massachusetts scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because
    it is a very popular destination. The put-in location is a short drive from Bennington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater
rafting and kayaking in Massachusetts is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. A good workout and just being out on the river for  
a while have people coming from far and near.

Briefly about the general area:
People from Rowe love to come to Deerfield River, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Dunbar Brook Trail. A visit to Monroe State Forest revives the spirit, and Berkshire East has nice slopes and a friendly staff. This is a great river. Deerfield River is right by the Busby Trail, and Mohawk Trail State Forest is a great place. Deerfield River is a good spot of normal precipitation. The month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while February is mostly the driest month. Through the summertime months highs here at Deerfield River get into the 70's.
