Massachusetts whitewater, Deerfield River

Franklin county, Wilcox Hollow to Stillwater Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I-II     7 miles

There is a portage around the #2 dam which is about a mile or so below the Wilcox Hollow put in. The portage includes an 800 foot long carry and a scramble down a steep, rocky slope. Says Brewbeer

Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Massachusetts tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The put-in is not too far from Springfield, there's a road map further
down the page with more info on that. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful scenery of Massachusetts and the cool fresh water have
people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
