The wonderful -blank- County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch of Farmington River - West Branch in -blank- County is 2.25 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there |
are campgrounds nearby. The Lower New Boston section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The average Massachusetts whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in
| other states, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes. Briefly about the general area: When you're here at Farmington River - West Branch it's always fun to stop by Tolland State Forest, and close by you hit upon the
County Road Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. You're sure to stumble upon some wonderful people from Colebrook here, and York Lake is a glorious spot to stretch your legs a bit. This river is so great. The skiing at
Otis Ridge is delightful. Farmington River - West Branch sees pretty high levels of rainfall. The wettest month of the year is ordinarily August, that's the one that rains the most, and January is when it's the driest.
