You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: York Lake is
a great site; the friendly folks of East Otis like to hang out nearby. Places like Tolland State Forest are tremendous to stop by; everyone close by loves skiing at Otis Ridge. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Going
for a hike on the County Road Trail is always a good adventure. For the duration of the summertime at Farmington River - West Branch temperatures are regularly in the 80's.
