CLASS II-III     8.15 miles
  This section of Green River in Massachusetts is 8.15 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. There's camping available near Green River. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night,
    but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The nature scenery of Berkshire County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This stretch has has enough mileage,
suitable for an afternoon trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Pittsfield, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
Go for a hike on
 
the Hopper Trail, and do schedule some time to have a look at Westlawn Cemetery if you have a chance. A visit to Green River wouldn’t be complete without a tour to close by Clarksburg State Park, and lots of people from Williamstown come here. This river has so much to offer. What would winter be without some skiing at Jiminy Peak; don't leave Green River without first going for a hike along the Deer Hill Trail. Taconic State Park is worth stopping at if you're at Green River. An average amount of precipitation falls at Green River. The month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
